Can you believe it? The first weekend in January, and Saturday saw a high of 66 degrees and Sunday was even warmer at 71. I didn't get on a bike at all. Part of the time I was kicking myself, but the other part of the time I realized I had made the better choice. Pam and I talked several times about taking the tandem out, but the wind was howling pretty wickedly with gusts over 30 mph on Saturday and over 35 mph on Sunday. Coupled with the idea that Pam is still sort of in recovery mode from her surgery and I didn't want to get started on something that would be hard for her and not fun for the first ride of the year, I think we made the right decision.
We did walk 5 miles on Saturday, so the entire weekend wasn't a washout as far as exercise goes.
Oh...I did do something productive in terms of cycling. Here's the front bottom bracket of the tandem on Saturday....
and here is the same thing after I finished.
While I had it apart, everything got a thorough cleaning. Shifting should be a lot better now and not degrade as fast as it was......
God Bless....
